Why the Warm Wishes Blanket Drive Means So Much to Me

As we kick off the Warm Wishes Blanket Drive, I wanted to share why this project holds such a special place in my heart.

My mother, Mrs. Nelson, was not only a beloved teacher but also the warmest person I’ve ever known—both figuratively and literally. She was a larger-than-life presence, and when she hugged you, it was like being wrapped in a warm, cozy blanket straight out of the dryer. She had this natural way of making everyone feel safe and cared for, as if all the troubles of the world just melted away in her arms.

Growing up, she often said that a warm blanket is more than just fabric; it’s a hug, a sense of security, and a reminder that someone cares. I like to think this drive is my way of sharing a little of her warmth with the world.
